Welcome to Strasbourg, France–the currently one of the jolliest place on planet earth! Right on the eastern boarder between France and Germany, this quaint little town dating back to at least 12BC, still proudly boasts a beautiful range of historic buildings from Medieval to Art Nouveau.
Every year from the end of November through the end of December, the entire city celebrates the holidays in the grandest fashion. Every single storefront is covered with decorations, inside and out. Over 300 wooden chalets are set up with vendors selling their local wares and glühwein. This tradition has been revered since 1570, when the very first European “Christkindelsmärik” was held in Strasbourg.
We spent the weekend there with friends, and it was such a blast. Our little AirBnB was was within the boarder of La Petite France. Everything about it was magical.

The flag of Strasbourg has changed 74 times between France and Germany. It’s a good looking place, no wonder folks were fighting over it.
In 1988, UNESCO recognized the entire center of the city, La Petite France (pictured below), as a World Heritage Site. This insanely picturesque part of town dates back to the Middle Ages.
